Discovery of a quasar with double-peaked broad balmer emission lines

Most massive galaxies contain a supermassive black hole (SMBH) at their center. When merge, SMBHs sink to the center of new galaxy where they are thought eventually merge. During this process an SMBH binary is formed. The presence two sets broad emission lines in optical spectrum active galactic nucleus (AGN) has been interpreted as evidence for line regions (BLR), one surrounding each binary. We modeled Balmer SDSS spectra 373 extreme variability AGNs using and several narrow Gaussian components. report on discovery J021647.53$-$011341.5 (hereafter J0216) double-peaked source. Among there were five sources that known sources. Three these have reported candidate binaries previous studies. present all six objects lines, discuss implications tidal disruption event (TDE) interpretation assuming binaries.
